Beyond Chicagoland there’s plenty to explore – dense green forests, winding riverfronts with picturesque towns, and many historic sites.


Northern Illinois

Rockford - Known as the “City of Gardens,” Rockford has 7,000 acres of parkland, and several magnificent public gardens including Anderson Japanese Gardens, ranked the top Japanese Gardens in North America.

Galena - This city of rolling hills and spectacular vistas is home to the Eagle Ridge Inn and Resort, known for its fabulous golfing and dining.


Central Illinois

Springfield & New Salem - Abraham Lincoln’s hometown is filled with many historic Lincoln sites, including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.

Champaign-Urbana - View more than 8,000 works of art at the Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion, or see where Santa recruits his team at nearby Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch.

Arthur & Arcola - These quaint towns are home to the largest Old Order Amish Settlement and still maintain a nineteenth-century lifestyle.

Nauvoo - A beautifully restored Mormon settlement along the banks of the Mississippi River.

Bishop Hill - This historic village was founded in 1846 by Swedish settlers and maintains much of its old-world legacy today.

Quad Cities - The Quad Cities rests on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River and share a population of 400,000. The region is made up of Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa and Moline/East Moline and Rock Island in Illinois, and surrounding communities.


Southern Illinois

Shawnee - Take a ride down the Shawnee Wine Trail and discover five award-winning wineries in an area whose wine heritage dates back almost two centuries. Then head to the Shawnee National Forest, where majestic rock formations, canyons, lakes and forests are a picturesque setting for outdoor sport.

Collinsville - The Cahokia Mounds Historic Site near Collinsville is the largest prehistoric Indian site north of Mexico.


U.S. Presidential Homes

Illinois has three Presidential homes – Abraham Lincoln’s in Springfield, Ronald Reagan’s in Dixon, and Ulysses S. Grant’s in Galena.
