Chicago Music Master

In a city known as the Blues capital of the world – not to mention one rich in jazz, gospel, Latin and contemporary performances – Frankie’s love for innovative sounds has helped him form a relationship with clubbers the world over and has won him the term of endearment, “The Godfather of House Music.” Since 1977 Frankie has been spinning new music, which lured him from his native New York to the clubs of Chicago — most notably, The Warehouse, from which his music drew its name.

You might think with clients like The Pet Shop Boys, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Toni Braxton that Frankie is too busy for his fans. Not so. Frankie is a man of the people and even sets up his DJ booth right on the dance floor to keep him closer to the crowd. He even keeps an aggressive touring schedule to stay in constant touch with his extended “family.” You can also catch Frankie mixing it up at his annual Fourth of July celebration in Chicago.

And this Grammy-award winning DJ does what he can to stay connected to the streets as well. In 2006 Frankie launched his digital label “NOICE!music” with “DubJ’s D’Light (a remixed reality).” Watch for “Motivation Too,” his new album due out this year.

As Def Mix turns 20, Knuckles is preparing to celebrate with David Morales, Satoshi Tomiie, Hector Romero and Judy Weinstein. The celebration includes a world tour with stops in the UK and several special events. It all launches in May 2007 with a weekender at London’s famous nightspot, Turnmills, and continues through the rest of the year, hitting six continents.
