Chicago: feel like it’s made just for you

This spring, the Illinois Bureau of Tourism will launch a brand new advertising campaign, ‘Chicago: Feel Like It’s Made Just For You’, developed by the Illinois Bureau of Tourism (IBOT) and creative agency RMG Connect to promote summer travel to the city of Chicago.

The integrated campaign goes live on Monday, 7 April and is running across online and offline media. The focal point of the campaign features 16 tube posters across 10 different locations on the London Underground, including Green Park, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Bond Street, and will be complemented by online advertisements.   The goal is to capitalize on consumer summer travel-planning prior to the high holiday season.

This is the first ever campaign Chicago has launched on the Underground and the creative brings to life the multitude of experiences that Chicago holds, educating and enticing the audience to discover more from the destination. From its amazing architecture to fine dining, unbeatable shopping to exploring the roots of the city’s Blues music, alongside the world’s best entertainment, Chicago has something to fit every traveller’s need.

Focusing on the unique and intriguing elements that make up Chicago, IBOT developed the “Feel Like It’s Made Just For You” campaign to emphasize Chicago’s inspiring attractions and interesting people, making a hero out of the individuals who helped make it the diverse city it is today. The campaign highlights Chicago’s roots in architecture and blues music, with the two new adverts featuring architect Frank Gehry and blues legend Muddy Waters. These iconic figures have raised Chicago’s profile as a city with one of the most original concert venues on Earth, and known worldwide as the home of the Blues.

Jan Kostner, deputy director, Illinois Bureau of Tourism, said, "We wanted to give people a more in depth look at Chicago and the people and places that have made it the exciting, vibrant and enjoyable city it is today. We also wanted to communicate that all of this is ready and waiting, as though it's been made just for you."

In the future, the London Underground may play host to more unique offerings from the great American destination.
