CHICAGO CELEBRATES 25TH ANNUAL BLUES FESTIVAL
5-8 June, 2008 in Grant Park

UK travellers to Chicago this summer can enjoy the 25th Annual Chicago Blues Festival in Grant Park, 5-8 June, 2008 in the Blues Capital of the World. With an attendance of over half a million people from around the globe, the event forms the highlight of Chicago's season of outdoor music celebrations.

Celebrating its silver anniversary, the world's largest free-admission Blues festival showcases the city's most talented Blues performers and hosts a star-studded opening lineup. Just as in 1984, opening night pays tribute to Muddy Waters featuring headliners Johnny Winter and James Cotton, performing Thursday, 5 June at the Petrillo Music Shell.

Chicago Blues Festival's second night will be second to none, with Friday night headliners, Queen of the Blues — Koko Taylor and her Blues Machine, Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater. The audience will also be treated to a special set honoring the past, featuring Ruby Andrews, Cicero Blake and Jackie Ross.

Chicago Blues Festival's third night will be majestic with Saturday night headliners Buckwheat Zydeco and Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials.

The Festival has grown tremendously in its twenty-five years and now features more than ninety performances on six stages and extended hours of 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. With roots in the songs of slaves and folk hollers, Blues first developed in Chicago in the 1920s and has evolved into the famous sound that is synonymous with the city.
