26th ANNUAL TASTE OF CHICAGO FESTIVAL

As Britain is increasingly becoming a nation of food lovers, travellers won't be able to resist being led by their stomach to Chicago's annual Taste of Chicago festival.  This year, between 30 June – 9 July, more than three million people are expected to tuck into the best of Chicago specialities, ethnic dishes, family favourites and fine foods at the festival.  This spectacular event takes place in Grant Park in downtown Chicago.

In addition to the overwhelming gastronomic attractions, the festival offers live music from international artists which in the past have included Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, Elvis Costello and The Wallflowers.  This year's star line up will be announced in late April 2006.

At present, Chicago is the most exciting American city in which to dine.  It is home to some of the world's best chefs, such as Charlie Trotter, Grant Achatz and Rick Bayless.  Beyond the fine dining, the city has over 7,000 restaurants offering global cuisine and Chicago classics, such as deep-dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dogs.

If the Taste of Chicago festival leaves you hungry for more, here are some of the hottest places to dine during a trip to Chicago:

  • Charlie Trotter's – Regarded as one of the finest restaurants in the world and dedicated to culinary excellence for over 18 years
  • Moto – Enjoy innovative cuisine at one of Chicago's finest restaurants, where you can indulge in the unique experience of eating the edible menu after you have placed your order
  • Spiaggia – A sophisticated Italian restaurant with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan in a dramatic Magnificent Mile location
  • Alinea – Restaurant of Grant Achatz, best described as the American Heston Blumenthal

Three-night breaks to Chicago during the festival cost from £399.00 per person including accommodation at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites and return scheduled flights from London Heathrow.  For further information call American & Worldwide Travel on tel: 01892 779900.
